* I went down to Hobbit Town
A-one, two, three, four, five-oh
To a tavern there of great renown
A-one, two, three, four, five
The Ivy Bush that is its name
They serve a fearsome pint
And I’ve heard if you are game
They’ll serve ’em up all night.
There was a lass with flaxen hair
And eyes of shining blue
She made the boys all sigh and stare
And I was staring too!
I also met a Halfling pair
Of friendly jack-a-napes
They told tales to curl your hair
Of wicked boyhood scrapes.
I told a few tall tales myself
As the pints kept coming ’round
Until I backed into a shelf,
And all the mugs crashed down!
The landlord showed me to the door
Though I was loath to go…
But I swore I’d be back for more
In a dozen years or so!
