Blogging 101 — In Which I Learn What I Am Doing

Hello, world!

One of my goals for this year, is to learn to be a more effective blogger. Those of you who have been around awhile know I am hit and miss at best. So, in hopes of becoming more effective, I have signed up for Blogging 101 from WordPress.

Today’s assignment is to introduce myself — so here goes. (If you’ve heard it all before, you might still learn something. 😉 )

Let’s start at the beginning. My name is Adrienne Rose. I was born in Austin, Texas over 50 years ago…boy, I’m getting old! I am the oldest of four sisters, and from the time I was a child, I have wanted to write. Now, I do, using the pen name Rie Sheridan Rose.

As a writer, connecting with people is essential. A good blog is one of the best tools for connecting that there is, and I hope to build one that is interesting and amusing to read, at least. What will you find in it? Amusing anecdotes about life, writing samples, photographs (I love to take photographs), and a potpourri of whatever else I can think of. 🙂

The goal is to publish more posts of better quality than I have too date. I am proud of what I have done, but I don’t like the irregularity of it.

I want to provide better content for more people. This is my purpose in taking this class, and I hope to reach that goal. One of the questions to answer is “If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?” I hope to increase readership; build interest in my writing; and network with other writers and bloggers in general to create a support system.

I am never good about knowing how much to share and what content–this is one of the things I need to get better at–but I will happily answer any questions you might have in the comments.
